Comments for Grass Route Consumers
We are happy to attend many trade shows, expos, wood shows and festivals across North America. It is always a pleasure to meet new people and renew acquaintances at these shows. We enjoy talking about alternative heating energy methods. Some of the many comments we hear may be of interest to you.
These comments center on the Portage & Main Outdoor Water Furnace conventional wood burning unit. When you are in the market for an outdoor furnace:
- "After seeing the Portage & Main furnace, I wonder why anyone would consider anything else."
- "Where were you two years ago?"
- "My uncle recommended that we check out this furnace (Portage & Main). He was so impressed with the quality."
- My neighbor said to check out the Portage & Main. They saw it last year and are still talking about it."
- "I certainly can see the advantages of the ash pan. The ashes drop down into the ash pan which is constructed to be easy to dump. No more working with hot coals from incomplete burns ...I'd easily pay a $1,000 extra."
- When we were talking about the round firepot advantages "Why throw away 200 years of engineering?"
The following comments were directed towards their brand x stove:
- "I hate shoveling out the ashes from my stove. I always put it off to long...Not a good practice. My next furnace will definitely have an ash pan..."
- It is disgusting coughing up ash dust after I have shoveled out the ashes."
- "I hate seeing the sparks out of some other stacks. Even worse flames shooting out. My neighbor has some many flames coming out of stack, we hardly need a yard light. Now tell me that is not a fire concern for us"
- "A fellow down the road from me had his wood pile and yard catch on fire from sparks out of his brand X boiler's chimney. Big mess. The fire department came. Saved most of the buildings but they tore apart the big wood pile-about 40 cords. Need a big wood lot when that's the case."
